Question

How do I eliminate the motion error?

Answer

Motion indication is not an error, but an indication that the weight is changing on the scale. The motion function works the same way on all our units, including the HI 2151/20WC, HI 2151/30WC, HI 2110WI, HI 1771WS, HI 1746WS, HI 1756WS, HI 1769WS, HI3030, HI 3010, and HI 4050.  When your Hardy unit updates its weight reading it will compare this new reading with the reading it had one second earlier. If the difference is greater than the motion tolerance setting, then it will indicate an in-motion condition.

If you are receiving a motion bit and the weight on the scale is not changing, it is an indication that the amount of fluctuation in the weight reading is causing the motion bit to set. This is either because the motion setting is too low or the calibration is not correct. To overcome the problem of trying to do a calibration when the scale is indicating it is in motion you can increase the motion tolerance to a value higher than the amount of fluctuation on the readings. Normally you can set it to 999,999 and it will come out of motion. Once you have removed the in motion condition you should be able to perform a calibration. When the calibration is complete, remember to reset the motion setting to a reasonable value, normally around .03% of full scale capacity.
