Question

How do I determine if my load cells are reacting correctly to weight?

Answer

To figure out if your load cells are reacting correctly to weight you can apply a test weight to each corner and make sure each load cell shows a correct weight reading or a positive increase in millivolts proportional to the weight applied. The corners will not have the same starting Mv reading.  There may be additional equipment over one corner that is not affecting another.

The full capacity applied to the load point will return the maximum Millivolt signal back to the controller. If you have a 2 mV/V rated load cell with 5 volts excitation the rated capacity applied will return 10mV.  Any weight applied that is less than the maximum capacity will return a ratio of that weight in millivolts.

The attached tech note reviews how to determine and record the millivolt signals to help determine the accuracy of your scale.
