How do I clear the red fault LED on my HI 200DNWM?

Question

How do I clear the red fault LED on my HI 200DNWM?

Answer

HI 200DNWM red LED indications are solid and flashing:

A solid red LED on either DS1 or DS2 indicates a non-recoverable fault and the unit will need to be returned to the factory for repair. Please send us an online Return Authorization Request at: http://www.hardysolutions.com/support-center/repairs-form/view

A flashing red LED on DS2 indicates that the load cell signal level is out of range. To clear the fault the load cell signal level must be brought within range, which is from 0mv to 15mv. Check the wiring from the load cells to verify that the load cell wires are not reversed or improperly terminated. Also, please verify the load cells are mounted correctly. We have had customers complain that their contractors installed load cells upside down!

Another possibility would be the sense lines or jumpers are not attached. There are two ways to attach sense lines, which are:

A jumper from +EXC to +SEN and jumper from -EXC to -SEN
OR
Install a wire from the +SEN on the HI 200DNWM to the +EXC on the summing junction card and a wire from the -SEN on the HI 200DNWM to the summing junction card -EXC.

When the load cell is wired correctly (based on its spec sheet), but the module is still giving a flashing RED led, the voltages need to be checked at the module. Using a voltmeter, verify the following:

Measure between -exc & +exc (pins 3 & 8), should be +5v dc.
Measure between -sen & +sen (pins 4 & 7), should be +5v dc.
Measure between -sig & +sig (pins 5 & 6), should be from 0 to +15mV dc.

The LED indication you are seeing normally indicates the voltage on the signal leads is out of range, either negative or higher than 15mV.

This can also be caused by the sense voltage missing. If the load cells being wired do not have sense lines, place a shorting jumper from pins 7 to 8 (+sen to +exc), and another shorting jumper from pins 3 to 4 (-exc to -sen).

If all voltages are correct and the module continues to have the flashing red led, then the module would need to be sent in for evaluation/repair. See the above instructions on requesting a Return Authorization for the repair of your HI 200DNWM.
