How can I configure the HI 1746WS module in the SLC 500 system?

I cannot configure my HI 1746WS module using RS Logix 500 version 5.5. I get BLM application instead of the OTHER and the G file is grayed out. Using version 6.3 I get a "G file too large" error and the MI and MO files are configured incorrectly. How can I configure the HI 1746WS module in the SLC 500 system?

The HI 1746WS module is configured as "OTHER" in the configuration of the RS Logix 500 software and allows the user to change the setup as needed. Due to upgrades in the different versions of the Rockwell software, changes sometimes occur that create problems with the configuration of third party modules designated as "OTHER". Two versions of RS Logix 500 we are aware of that create a configuration problem are versions 5.5 and versions 6.3.

RS Logix 5.5 assigned the "OTHER" selection to a BLM (blow molder) module. It set up an automatic configuration and would not allow you to make changes to it. The HI 1746WS module cannot be configured correctly using this version of RS Logix 500. This was corrected in version 6.0.

Version 6.3 again assigned the BLM module to the "OTHER" selection. However, the configuration will allow changes. In this version, correcting the configuration setup will allow the HI 1746WS module to work properly. You will need to go to Advanced Configurations and change the G file length from 5 to = 0 and the MI and MO = 128 words.

With ongoing upgrades to RS Logix 500 software, if you have a problem with the HI 1746WS module working, the configuration should be checked first to insure proper parameter settings. If the software will not allow you to make corrections to incorrect configuration settings, you may need to go to a different version of RS Logix 500 software to overcome the problem.
