Question

How can I avoid the errors encountered when BCD data is read during data refresh?

Answer

The best method of avoiding BCD data refresh errors on your HI 2110WI or HI 2151/30WC is to use a double scan. False readings will occur when the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is using BCD weight data to establish a setpoint, and it scans during a data refresh. BCD data refresh occurs every 100 milliseconds, and most PLC programs scan every 10 to 20 milliseconds. To avoid false setpoint readings, take BCD readings on two consecutive scans and compare them. If BCD data is read on two consecutive scans it is not possible for both readings to be taken during data refresh. Only when the BCD data is equal for two consecutive scans should it be considered valid data and used in your program.
