Can the A3 option on my HI 2151/30WC connect to a computer?

The HI 2151/30WC-A3 option is the serial port output, set up in RS 485, Half Duplex (2 wire) mode. This should be able to connect up to a RS 485, 2-wire serial port on a computer. The wiring pin-out for the connector on the HI 2151/30WC is listed on a label on the top of the unit. There is also a set up menu in the unit under "OPTIONS" to set up the proper baud rate, parity selection, etc., for the serial port. This setup is covered in the HI 2151/30WC manual, Chapter 4 for the hardware setup, and Chapter 5 for the configuration setup of the serial port.

The protocol (format) for the serial output/input data for the HI 2151/30WC is described in Chapter 7 of the manual. The user would be responsible for writing or purchasing a driver program to display or collect the data in their computer.
