Question

Can I purchase a key number to enable an option on my Hardy Instrument?

Answer

If you would like to enable a software option on your Hardy Instrument please call us at 858-278-2900 option #2, the Hardy Service Center, and let us know what model Hardy Instrument you have, serial number of the unit, and which option you want. Once a PO is received we will send you a key number to enable the software option.

Once you have obtained a valid key number, use your laptop and the built-in browser on your HI 3000 series unit to enable the option you purchased. An example is attached to this WebTech answer below.  In this example, it shows enabling the DeviceNet option in an HI 3030 unit.

NOTE:  If connecting directly from computer to unit, you need a cross over cable for the HI 3000 series units, however, you can use either normal or cross over cable for the HI 4000 series units.

If you are purchasing one of the software enabled options in the HI 4000 series units such as EIP, Modbus, or Rate of Change, you will need to enter the Key Code into the unit.

All the software enabled options in the HI 4000 series units, which include the HI 4050 and HI 4060, will require the Key Code to be entered.  In these units, you can enter the Key Code through the Ethernet port or through the front panel of the unit.
If you choose to enter the Key Code through the Ethernet Port, follow the instructions for the HI 3000 series units.

If you choose to enter the Key Code through the front panel:
1.  Press the Enter key on the front panel.
2.  Down arrow to Options and Enter.
3.  Down arrow to the option you have the Key Code for and Enter.
4.  Down arrow to the Key Code entry and Enter.
5.  Enter the Key Code for that option in that unit and Enter.
6.  Enter any other option settings you may need to set up.
7.  Exit the options menu.  Your option is turned on.
