Can I get my HI 1771WS to communicate with Controllogix?

I understand the HI 1771WS is a plug in module for Rockwell PLC5, but I have upgraded to Controllogix and need to know if I can get my HI 1771WS to communicate to the newer PLC?

Yes, you should be able to establish communications between the ControlLogix PLC, using a DHRIO module, to the remote chassis with the HI 1771WS and an ASB module.  The data being transferred would be the same, using a block transfer write and block transfer read instruction.  You should verify the lengths for the block transfers are correct for the density setting of the module.  The block lengths for single density mode are: Write 33, Read 29; for double density are: Write 49, read 64.  These being set up incorrectly can cause a block transfer error. 

NOTE:  Series A modules are single density, Series B modules are jumper selectable for either single or double density.

If you previously used the 1771 Weighscale configuration software, it will not work in this configuration.  The configuration software required the use of a PLC5 processor.
